Processing Opt Out Requests

Opt out requests are the most common. By making an opt out request, the consumer is opting out from the future sharing of their data to third party vendors. The consumers previously collected data is not affected, only future data.

Consumers must be manually verified before processing the opt out request. Check your CRM and DMS to locate the customer with the provided information. If verified, click "Next" to move to the next step.

If the consumer is found in the DMS or CRM, you will manually go in the DMS and/or CRM to change the customer to "Do Not Sell Status." Read the "Important" notice in blue.

Some DMS or CRMs have instructions included. Access these instructions if available for the steps to opt a consumer out of future sharing.

If no instructions are available, you will have to contact your representative at the CRM/DMS to get the instructions.

Once you have manually opted the consumer out of future sharing from the necessary sources, mark "Opted-out." If the consumer was not found in that particular source, mark "N/A" as needed. Click "Next."

Third party vendors that you have shared customer data with in the past should be notified to stop sharing consumer data. On the next page, you can choose to automatically notify third party vendors. Select yes or no for each vendor.

Tip! ComplyAuto recommends notifying all third party vendors, so our recommendation would be to leave all of them marked "Yes."

You can preview the email sent to third party vendors by clicking the envelope icon.

Tip! If there is no email listed, then you will need to add your vendor representative’s email. Click "Next."

On the last page of the request, you can edit, if you would like, and send an email to the consumer.

There is also a list of vendors who will be notified if you selected yes on the previous page. Click the envelope icon to preview the email that will be sent.

If you are not ready to send notification emails, click "Save & Exit."

The consumer as well as the third party vendors listed will automatically be emailed when you click "Finish" and then "Confirm."
