Processing Categories Requests

Consumers have the right to know about the personal information a business collects and how it is used and shared. A categories request is submitted by a consumer wanting to know the general types of information collected on them.

To access consumer requests, navigate to your ComplyAuto Privacy dashboard. In the left-hand menu, click "Privacy" and then "Requests." You can also click anywhere on the request.

Processing an Assigned Consumer Requests - Step 2

1. Navigate to the categories request (aka Right to know Request). As with all requests, the consumer provided information is at the top.

2. A categories request requires a "reasonable degree of certainty" when verifying the consumer.

3. The consumer submitting the request provides their interactions with your organization and must verify their email and phone number before the request can be submitted.

4. Next, manually verify that the name, email, and phone number provided by the consumer matches what you have in your CRM or DMS. Click "Next."

5. Based on your data inventory and the consumer's interactions, the software automatically generates the categories of information. You only need to verify everything is accurate.

6. Be sure to work through all three sections: Categories, Sources, and Purposes. The small question marks provide additional information about that category if you hover over them. Go through the list and mark yes or no if you've collected that type of information.

Processing Categories Requests - Step 7 (1)

7. Click "Show Predetermined Categories." These are fields that are auto-answered by the software. You can adjust if you would like, but these are predetermined to be accurate based on the consumer provided interactions. Click "Next."

8. Now all that is left is to finalize the response to the consumer. The auto-generated email may be edited if you so desire.

9. The email will include a detailed chart of the types of information collected.

10. Click "Finish" and "Confirm" to submit the request and send the consumer email.
