This article outlines how to exclude your printers from security scans in order to avoid printing blank or random pages.
During a security scan, certain printers may inadvertently print multiple blank pages or pages containing illegible text. To prevent this from happening, you can do one of two things:
- Turn off your printers.
- Add your printers' IP addresses to the exclusion list to skip scanning your printers.
Navigate to your ComplyAuto Privacy dashboard and click "Cybersecurity" in the left-hand menu.
Click "Security Scanning."
Click "Networks."
Click anywhere on a network to open its settings.
Scroll down and click "Add An IP To Exclude."
Click the "IP Address To Exclude" field and type or paste a printer's IP Address.
Add a name for the printer in the "Description" field.
Click "Add Another IP To Exclude" to continue adding printers as needed.
Click "Update" when you have added all of the IP Addresses for exclusion.
Alert! Since many printers have the capability to store recently scanned or printed pages containing sensitive information. you may be required under the Safeguards Rule to include printers in the scan if they have access to NPI.
